I remember these guys from taking BIOL 1902 – Natural History of Canada. This my friends is a Monarch Butterfly but they prefer to be called Danaus Plexippus, don’t ask me why, I’m just a messenger. She like, a lot of other insects was attracted to my mom’s garden so I just had to snap a few shots. Really beautiful.
I was actually sitting on my front porch this morning and thinking about insects. In particular about how well coordinated they are. Seeing as how I’m taking a robotics class right now, I’m experiencing first hand how hard it is to grant gracious movements and intelligent behavior to a machine. This of course has me in amazement about insects (animals in general actually). They are so small, yet their instincts are so accurate and so honed. I can’t get my robot to keep track of its position, yet these butterflies are known for their transatlantic flights.
I take back what I said about Armin, his latest episode (373) is pretty good. A track to keep in mind is Paradise Garage the Piano Mix by Heatbeat:
